MINIMIS approached the development of PARALLEL from the premise that our designs should be as appropriate for use indoors, as they would outdoors. MINIMIS Principal and Designer Alex Lorenz took issue with the typical design principles of outdoor furniture, as typically being over-engineered, clumsy, bulky, and lacking any delicacy. With this in mind, Lorenz approached PARALLEL with the goal of designing a complete work that fuses high-modern design, delicate lines, solid construction, and robust weather-resistance. Lorenz then took the project several steps further:INTERRELATED - the design mandates that that each piece of PARALLEL be visually integrated and interrelated with the entire set. Every single line, on every axis, to be parallel.
SUSTAINABLE - the entire set of chairs and tables have a surface that is fashioned from one single sheet of material, engineered with < 0.02% waste, and that PARALLEL be 100% recyclable, and be fabricated from recycled material. PARALLEL slats are made from 100% post-consumer recycled polyethylene, from water bottles, grocery bags, milk bottles, shampoo/conditioner bottles, and the like.
BESPOKE - offer flexibility to suit individual clients' needs, with a wide array of frame colors and six surface colors to choose from, and the ability to work with the client to address their specific size requirements.
